Welcome to 18 S Trent Avenue! On July 2, 1906, Wyomissing officially became incorporated as a borough. In researching the deeds for this property known as 18 S Trent Avenue, purchase of the first of five lots began in 1900. Mr. Howard M. Fry, an officer of Wyomissing Industries, along with his wife, Ella Fry, built the property. Hanging in the home is a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Howard M. Fry and their family taken in the living room. The picture was originally taken in the early 1900’s. Below the picture you can see the front page of the Reading Eagle Newspaper from December 14, 1917. It was affixed to the wall. According to local historians, when an artisan completed a room within the home, his final task was to affix a copy of the front page of that day’s newspaper on one of the walls to document what was taking place during that time period. Our painting contractor, Mr. William Delong, uncovered this newspaper in 1996. It has been the homeowners intent over the past fifteen years, to restore this home to its original beauty. A listing of contractors, who have worked on this restoration, is available upon request.

A Chef’s Delight! This kitchen was designed in its entirety by the homeowners and installed in December of 2008. It features KraftMaid cabinetry, cherry hardwood, ginger stain with sable glaze finish. Just a Few of the Features included: Custom roll out trays are installed in each cabinet; One touch auto close on each of the drawers; Knife sections in several of the drawers; Adjustable drawer dividers; Dual cutlery divider for easy storage of knives, forks and spoons; A built in coffee maker with storage below for mugs. The kithen surface is natural quartz, (Viatera Quartz by LG Hausys America). It resists scratching, scorching and most chemicals making clean up so easy! Earthscapes Platinum Series – Stone vinyl flooring featuring a 20 year wear through, 20 year fade, stain and discolor and 20 year rip, tear, gouge and indent. All appliances purchased in 2008. The Electrolux oven allows for endless cooking options. All records pertaining to the kitchen design and installation are available upon request.

18 S. Trent Avenue, Wyomissings First Library It took a group of volunteer women to create a library for the town. In 1911, more than 50 women came together to form the Woman’s Civic League of Wyomissing, dedicated “ to promote by education and active co-operation a higher public spirit and a better social order.” Their main activity was devoted to starting and supporting a library. Mrs. W. Sterling Hamaker, who had suggested starting a Civic League based on the one in Reading, was elected the first president, and Mrs. Edward S. Lichtenthailer was chosen as the first president of the league’s Library Committee. The wives of the Wyomissing Industries leaders joined in with these determined women to begin donating and collecting books and money. The first 100 books were donated by Mrs. Hamaker. For a few months in early 1912 the donated books began filling up the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fry at 18 S. Trent Avenue. They were transferred to the school for the rest of the year, and then again to a room shared with the Fire Departmen in the Borough Hall.

This is one of the most well kept 100+ year old home I have ever had the pleasure of representing. Congratulations to the next owner….Whoever you are!

Mike, The sellers have decided to downsize. The home is 3,800 square feet and it is just the two of them. I have added the home inspection that was completed when we listed the home. It was done by Ron Eckenroth of Apple Home Inspections and located in the IMPORTANT DOCUMENT section above.

Let me know if you would like to see the home in person.
